Bennie Edwin Mosbey entered the kingdom of his creator on January 4, 2025, at 3:18 PM, surrounded by his loving family.

Bennie was born on February 5, 1935, in Albia, Iowa, to Ruth Bernice (Mertz)and William Edward Mosbey.

After high school, Bennie enlisted with the Army for four years of duty. After his military service, he attended college at the University of Iowa. He graduated with a double degree in Business. His degree led him to work for various construction companies as a business administrator, and he retired in the Spring of 1999.

Bennie met the love of his life, Sandra McKenzie, in 1966 while working on a construction project in Shelbyville, Illinois. He was part of a team building a dam at Lake Shelbyville. After six dates, they got married. Bennie and Sandra enjoyed 58 years of marriage and had three children: Peggy, Pamela, and Brian. Throughout his life, Bennie and his family lived in Illinois, Pennsylvania, and Colorado.

Bennie was a character who had great dad jokes and a silly sense of humor with friends and family. He would sing his good morning song to us, respond to you with his silly sayings, use a red pen in business stuff, and love a good biscotti first thing in the morning. Always a man with a handshake and a smile Bennie never met someone he couldn’t be friends with throughout his life. Even in the end, he told stories and hugged the nurses who were caring for him.

Bennie was a man of God who attended church throughout his life, participating in positions at the various churches he attended. He was one to volunteer or lend a hand to anyone who needed it. He was a Gideon and did prison ministry, which he found very rewarding. He also helped Habitat for Humanity. He was awarded the Harry Denman Award for evangelism. He led his life as a true Christian man in his words and actions.

Bennie will be greatly missed by his loving wife, children, and grandchildren, Ainsley, Ciara, Xavier, Noah, and Courtney. He is also survived by his sister Bonnie Hunt in Iowa. A hole is left in our hearts that can’t be mended, but we know that he is sitting at the right hand of God with his dog Nacho watching over us all and guiding our lives with good choices and many smiles.

Services will be held this Saturday, January 11, 2025, at 1:00 PM at Martin Mortuary 550 North Ave Grand Junction, CO 81501.  The service will be live-streamed for those unable to attend in person, allowing them to participate in his celebration of life.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bennie’s name to HopeWest Hospice  https://www.hopewestco.org/donate/ or Grand Junction Christ Center  https://christcentergj.com/different-ways-you-can-support-us/.
