Beverly Jane Chambers passed away on September 12, 2024, surrounded by her family at HopeWest Hospice Care Center in Grand Junction, CO.
Bev was born on February 12, 1943, to Charles and Frances (Dolph) Brandt in Cedaredge, CO. Her family moved to Grand Junction when she was a child, and she graduated from Central High School. She went on to obtain a B.S. in teaching at UNC in Greeley and later an M.A. in teaching at Western State in Gunnison.
She married Dennis Chambers in 1964 and had three children (Darin, Dennis, and Denyne) and they later divorced. The family lived in Ft. Morgan before moving to Rifle in 1979, where she remained until her death. She was a very energetic and independent woman who loved adventure and travel. Many of her travels revolved around family. She was happiest at large family reunions with her children, three sisters, and their families.
Bev also loved teaching and volunteer work. Although she retired from teaching in 1999, she remained as a substitute teacher up until several months before her death. She was passionate to the very end about working with the United Methodist Church Camp on Grand Mesa and the Garfield County School District’s Destination Imagination program.
Bev was preceded in death by her sisters Nina Lee and Alice. She leaves behind one sister, Jean Klements of Las Vegas, NV; her children Darin (Miriam) Chambers of Westminster, CO; Dennis (Christy) Chambers of Kent, WA; and Denyne (Mike) McDonald of Ellensburg, WA.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Rifle United Methodist Presbyterian Church on Saturday, October 26, 2024, at 2:00 p.m.
