Local medical professionals have an exciting opportunity to receive expert training from a world-renown palliative medicine pioneer in a location close to home.
Charles F. von Guten, MD, PhD, FACP, FAAHPM and Frank D. Ferris, MD, FAAHPM, FAACE will be giving a presentation on Palliative Medicine, A Core Competency in the Practice of Medicine on Wednesday, November 4, from 8:00am – 4:30pm at the Colorado Mesa University Ballroom on 1100 North Ave, Grand Junction.
The presentation will cover:
- symptom management from evidenced based research and best practices of Palliative Medicine
- application of key principles in managing advanced cardiac and pulmonary diseases
- tools to use when having important conversations with patients and families regarding goals of care, palliative care or hospice care decisions
- dealing with conflict and medical futility
Registration is open to physicians, nurses, pharmacists, physician assistants, social workers and chaplains. The presentation is a Continuing Medical Education activity offering CME credits for those who attend.
Additional presentations will take place on November 5 in Placerville at the Old School House on Front Street and on November 6 in Montrose at the Montrose Memorial Hospital on 800 S. Third Street.
