Dennis Keith Watkins

A caring husband who loved his grandchildren, always had a kind word to say and witty expression to bring a smile to family, friends, or even a stranger.

Dennis Keith Watkins, 69, of Grand Junction, CO, died on February 8th, 2025.

He was born in Evansville, Indiana in 1955 to James “Jack” D. and Dolores Watkins. Dennis attended Harrison High School, before working in construction and then sales. He dedicated himself to the trades he chose and was always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need. As a young man, Dennis was active in the church, taking a mission trip to Haiti to build wells and facilities. He continued his service to the greater good by helping neighbors and building for Habitat for Humanity. Dennis could befriend a stranger in seconds with his kindness and wit.

Dennis met the love of his life, Vera Jean, in 1999. Excited to start their new lives together, they were married on September 21st, 2001, in Bakersfield, CA.

Dennis has 6 children, Amy, Wendy, and Ryan with Vera Jean, and from a previous relationship Summer (deceased), Jason, and Holly.

Though he loved the outdoors and being active Dennis’ favorite role was as a grandparent to Tyler, Molly, Amber, Rylee, and Rett. He treasured the time shared with them fishing in the backyard, building forts, taking hikes, climbing trees, woodworking and so much more.

Dennis was preceded in death by his parents Jack and Dolores Watkins, his twin brothers Gary and Jerry, and his daughter Summer. He is survived by his wife Vera Jean, brothers Steve (Crystal), Jimmy (Winnie), and Mike (Lisa), his children, grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
