Dean spent most of his life, including his childhood, moving around the country and spent most of his time between Oregon, Colorado, Nevada, Arizona, and New Mexico. They have since divorced, and Dean moved to Las Vegas, NV, where he started his career in the casino business, dealing blackjack and craps.

Dean loved creating art and, through the years, mastered the mediums of acrylic painting, watercolor painting, pencil drawing, wood burning, carving, and colored pencil drawing. He also enjoyed working on home improvement projects, golf, disc golf, riding dirt bikes, jigsaw puzzles, rock hunting, and studying extraterrestrial activities.
