Meeker, Colorado — Community members can learn about the importance of advance directives and how to make their healthcare wishes known at the Advance Care Planning Information Session hosted by HopeWest.

The Advance Care Planning Information Session is open to the community and free to attend. It will be held on Wednesday, July 27 from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. at the Meeker Public Library on 490 Main Street in Meeker, Colorado.

This information session will include why someone would want to make their healthcare wishes known and how to document wishes for medical treatment in the event they are unable to make healthcare decisions for themselves.

“We hope that with this event more people in our community will be equipped to have important conversations with their loved ones about their healthcare wishes,” said Solveig Olson, Program Director at HopeWest in Meeker. “When people don’t have advance directives in place, it is often left to the family to make decisions on their loved one’s behalf, which can be a difficult process when not everyone knows what their loved one would have wanted.”

For more information or to register please contact Solveig Olson at (970) 878-9383. Attendees are welcome to bring their own brown-bag lunch.
