Volunteers and campers are invited to attend a weekend filled with activities designed to help children navigate grief.
For kids entering grades 3 through 8, HopeWest Kids’ Camp Good Grief at Camp Cedaredge is the place to be from July 19-21, 2024. This event offers a weekend filled with activities designed to help children navigate grief in a supportive and understanding environment.
At Camp Good Grief, campers will find a mix of creative and outdoor activities. Guided by experienced HopeWest staff and trained volunteers, kids who have experienced the loss of a loved one will have the opportunity to express themselves through art, music, and storytelling.
Camp provides an opportunity for children to meet others who are going through similar experiences. It’s all about making new friends, trying new things, and finding joy and understanding in a safe space. The cost to attend is $50—scholarships are available if needed.
HopeWest is also calling on those who’d like to make a difference to volunteer at Camp Good Grief. Volunteers play a crucial role in making camp a memorable experience for the kids. Contributions range from being paired with campers as “buddies” to setting up and taking down equipment for the weekend. Opal Munger, a teen volunteer at the 2023 Camp Good Grief, shared that in her experience, “The campers learned about grief, and I learned about the beauty of human connection.”
Interested parents and guardians should sign up their campers early, as spaces are limited, and priority is given to new attendees. To register for camp or to find out more, call (970) 245-5377 or visit HopeWest.org/camp-good-grief.
