HopeWest is providing a new weekly grief support group in Meeker. The group is open to anyone coping with the death of a loved one.
Mending Hearts meets every Monday at 5:30pm in Richards Hall on the top floor at 368 4th Street in Meeker.
Although each person’s grief is unique, those coping with the death of a loved one share a common bond. Mending Hearts provides an understanding atmosphere where participants can openly share their thoughts and feelings as they navigate their journey through grief.
Each support group begins with grief education and is followed by a small group discussion. Topics include:
• Understanding grief and loss
• Coping skills in grief
• Dealing with emotions of grief
• Adjusting to new roles
“Support groups can help put the loss of a loved one in perspective and reduce the sense of isolation that often accompanies loss,” said Paul Sheridan, Counselor at HopeWest and Facilitator of Mending Hearts. “Our bereavement groups provide an opportunity to learn about the grief process, share experiences and thoughts with understanding peers.”
Mending Hearts is free of charge and is open to anyone coping with the death of a loved one. Pre-registration is not required and members may join at any time. For more information please call (970) 878-9383 or email AdultSupport@HopeWestCO.org for additional information.
